This zamak figurine faithfully reproduces the jersey worn by the riders of Super Confex YOKO during the 1988 season. Cast in quality zinc alloy and hand-painted in a workshop in Roubaix, it embodies the artisan tradition that runs through the entire range.
The 1988 season placed Super Confex YOKO right at the heart of the European professional peloton. One of the leading Dutch outfits of the era, the team fielded specialists built for bunch sprints and the spring classics — none more so than Jean-Paul van Poppel, one of the great pure sprinters of his generation, who claimed several stage victories at that year's Tour de France in this very jersey. It was a Tour shrouded in controversy, with Pedro Delgado's overall win coming under a cloud, while across the border Andrew Hampsten was writing cycling legend on the snow-covered slopes of the Gavia at the Giro d'Italia. Amid that packed and fiercely competitive peloton, Super Confex YOKO flew the flag for Dutch cycling on the sport's biggest stages.
A piece for collectors rebuilding the peloton season by season — or for anyone who wants a fragment of 1980s professional cycling history on their shelf.
