Founded in 1981 by Jim Ochowicz, the 7-Eleven team made history as the first American squad to establish itself in the professional European peloton. Backed by the iconic convenience store chain, the team embodied a bold transatlantic adventure across the world's greatest stage races throughout the 1980s.
Powered by riders such as Davis Phinney, Alex Stieda, Andy Hampsten and Ron Kiefel, the team wrote some of the most compelling chapters in 1980s professional cycling. In 1986, Alex Stieda became the first North American to pull on the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, while Davis Phinney claimed the first American stage victory on the Grande Boucle. Two years later, Andy Hampsten conquered the Giro d'Italia. Dissolved in 1990, the team left a towering legacy — its riders formed the core of the future Motorola squad.
This figurine faithfully reproduces the 7-Eleven team jersey. Cast in zamak — a zinc alloy prized for its durability and the sharpness of its detail — and hand-painted in Le Petit Cycliste's workshop in Roubaix, it carries the finest tradition of French artisan craftsmanship. Each piece is produced in small batches, for collectors looking to recreate the 1980s peloton or pay tribute to this pioneering American team.
