A zamak cycling figurine depicting the Château d'Ax team during the 1989 season. Each piece is cast in quality zinc alloy, produced in small batches at Le Petit Cycliste's workshop in Roubaix, then hand-painted to faithfully reproduce the team's race jersey.
The 1989 season is etched into the memory of every cycling fan. That year's Tour de France delivered one of the most dramatic finishes the race has ever seen: Greg LeMond staged a breathtaking comeback in the final Paris time trial, overturning a seemingly insurmountable deficit to beat Laurent Fignon by just 8 seconds — the narrowest winning margin ever recorded. The peloton that season was stacked with talent, with fierce competition across every major European stage race and classic. Château d'Ax, the Italian squad backed by the furniture brand of the same name, was very much part of that electric peloton, racing from the spring classics through to the grand tours.
