Motorola - cycling figurine

The Motorola cycling figurine is cast in zamak — a high-grade zinc alloy — and individually hand-painted in our Roubaix workshop. Produced in limited runs, each piece faithfully captures the team jersey with the level of craftsmanship that defines the collection.

The Motorola team, an American outfit that grew out of the legendary 7-Eleven squad in 1991, left an indelible mark on the professional peloton across six remarkable seasons. Led by the likes of Andy Hampsten and Steve Bauer, the team made its presence felt across stage races and one-day classics alike. In 1992, a young Lance Armstrong made his professional debut in the Motorola jersey, going on to claim the rainbow jersey at the 1993 World Championships in Oslo. George Hincapie joined the roster in 1994, later carrying that American spirit into the US Postal era. The 1995 season is forever etched in cycling's memory: Fabio Casartelli lost his life on the descent of the Portet d'Aspet, and the following day, the entire peloton stepped aside to let the Motorola riders cross the finish line alone — a tribute that moved the sport to its core.

Motorola withdrew from the peloton in 1996, leaving behind one of the defining chapters of 1990s professional cycling.
