This zamak figurine captures the Cofidis jersey as it appeared in the professional peloton during the 1997 season. Cast in zinc alloy and hand-painted in a workshop in Roubaix, it embodies a demanding French artisan tradition where every detail matters to the serious collector.
The 1997 season remains one of the most bittersweet in Cofidis history — a campaign defined as much by ambition as by adversity. The team had assembled a formidable roster, with Lance Armstrong and Tony Rominger earmarked as co-leaders for the grand tours. But Armstrong, diagnosed with cancer in October 1996, never made it to the start line, and Rominger abandoned the Tour de France after a crash. It fell to the French collective to salvage the season: Philippe Gaumont claimed victory at Gent-Wevelgem, Laurent Desbiens took a stage win at the Tour, and Nicolas Jalabert lifted the Coupe de France.
